This thesis/practical offers an opportunity to develop an automated fawn detection system using UAV technology. The objective is to enhance wildlife conservation efforts by protecting roe deer fawns during pasture mowing. Students will engage in tasks such as system integration, algorithm development, workflow optimization, and field testing to create an effective and efficient solution for fawn detection.

Tasks

• Develop and refine algorithms for automated fawn detection using thermal imaging data.
• Design and implement waypoint planning to streamline the workflow and enhancing efficiency.
• Conduct extensive field tests in varying weather and lighting conditions to assess the system’s performance and reliability.

Previous Knowledge

• Required: C++ and/or Python, ROS
• Desired: CV, Control and Planning Algorithms
